Mediheal Championships 2022, LPGA Tour, Golf: Results

Jodi Ewart Shadoff won the LPGA Mediheal Championships 2022 by one stroke on her 246th attempt, making it her first victory on the LPGA Tour. She finished with a 1-under 71 in the tense final round on Sunday. She broke the record set in 1995 by being the tenth golfer to claim their first LPGA Tour victory this year. No other golfers had to wait far to clinch the championship.

The 34-year-old Englishwoman had a four-shot lead at the beginning of the round, but by the time she reached the turn, it was gone. Following Ewart Shadoff’s bogey on the par-3 ninth hole, Paula Reto of South Africa, who had four birdies, claimed the lead. With a birdie on No. 12, Ewart Shadoff reclaimed a share of the lead. She then tied Reto for the lead with another birdie on the par-5 14th and maintained her position as the South African slipped.

Reto missed strokes on the next two holes, but Ewart Shadoff held it together on the last two. She finished one shot ahead of Yuka Saso, the former US Women’s Open winner, who scored a 66. Reto had to settle for a 69, tying her for third place with Georgia Hall (65) and Danielle Kang (69). (67). Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul,19, finished with a 68 to tie for eighth place. It was her fourth top-10 result on the LPGA Tour in a row, bringing her closer to the top of the women’s global rankings.
