Keith Pelley, the CEO of the DP World Tour in Canada, will take over as the next chairman of the International Golf Federation (IGF) next month, while the 10-time major champion from Sweden Annika Sörenstam has been re-elected as President. Pelley, 58, will succeed American Jay Monahan as commissioner of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Tour, whose four-year term expires on December 31, 2022. While Pelley’s tenure will last from 2023 to 2027, Monahan will continue to serve on the IGF Board. The declaration was made following a Lausanne-based IGF Board meeting.

Since 2015, Pelley has served as the DP World Tour’s chief executive, also known as the PGA European Tour. Pelley was President of Rogers Media in Toronto before he was named the fourth CEO of the European Tour. Before that, he was CTVglobemedia’s executive vice president of strategic planning, the President of Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium, the President and CEO of the Toronto Argonauts Football Club, and the President of The Sports Network (TSN).

Sörenstam, 52, was re-elected for a second two-year term as IGF President, which she will serve in 2023 and 2024. She has had 97 international professional victories over her illustrious playing career. In December 2020, she will succeed Britain’s Peter Dawson, the former chief executive of The Royal & Ancient. Her Major titles comprise three wins at the Women’s PGA Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open. Sörenstam is among the only three women to head an Olympic International Federation. The other women on this list are the President of the International Table Tennis Federation, Swede Petra Sörling,  and Marisol Casado, President of World Triathlon.
