The Memorial Golf Course will host the 2024 Texas Children's Houston Open on March 28-31.
The 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open is scheduled to take place from March 28 to 31 at the Memorial Golf Course in Houston, Texas. Top golfers including Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, and Will Zalatoris are among the headliners for the event. Tony Finau, who took home the trophy previously, will be back to compete against this year’s players.
Bookmakers favor Scheffler to clinch the title, with Clark, Finau, and Zalatoris also being strong contenders. Keith Mitchell is considered a less likely, yet possible winner with his odds standing at 40-1. Scheffler is set to start his round early at 8:53 a.m. ET with players like Peter Malnati and Will Zalatoris.
Kim, Clark, and Finau will begin their games at 1:53 p.m., followed by Theegala, Padraig Harrington, and Jason Day at 2:04 p.m. The previous year, the Houston Open was notable for Finau’s victory, marking his fifth PGA Tour win at the age of 32, surpassing Tyson Alexander by four strokes. It’s important to note the tournament did not feature on the PGA Tour in 2023, making Finau’s return as the title holder quite anticipated.
With a $9,100,000 prize fund, the Texas Children’s Houston Open is going to host a large group of 144 competitors. Six-time PGA Tour winner Finau is particularly spotlighted to possibly retain his title, with odds of 22-00 from SportsLine. Although Finau is behind Scottie Scheffler, Clark, Zalatoris, and Theegala in the betting odds, the championship boasts a strong lineup with 10 of the top 50-ranked golfers globally.
After not making the cut at the Valspar Championship the week before, Finau—ranked 30th in the world—is looking to make a strong appearance in Houston. Finau’s opening round in the Texas Children’s Houston Open is set for Thursday afternoon, alongside Si Woo Kim and Wyndham Clark.
