Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski have been a match made in heaven for several years. Ever since moving to Allianz Arena in 2014, the Polish striker has been an unstoppable force at the German giants. Together they have dominated the Bundesliga and have also emerged as a superpower in European football. However, that partnership is set to end this year, with Lewandowski wanting to leave the club and start a fresh challenge. It will be a big blow to Bayern fans after seeing the striker score 344 goals in 375 games across all competitions with the club.

“One thing is certain today – my story with Bayern is over. After everything that has happened in recent months, I cannot imagine further good cooperation. I realize a transfer will be the best solution for both sides,” Lewandowski said during a press conference on international duty. The Polish centre-forward has been sensational this season as well, scoring 50 goals in 46 games across all competitions. It is not clear at this point whether he will even be in Germany, with several reports linking him with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona. Find out below the suitable candidates who could replace him at Bayern Munich:

Patrik Schick (Bayer Leverkusen)

The Czech international has been in excellent form for the German club, scoring goals for fun. Leverkusen finished third this season behind champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Patrik Schick played an important role in his team’s positive campaign. The 26-year-old striker scored 24 goals in 31 games in the recently concluded season and has overall found the back of the net 37 times in 67 games for the German side. Despite his ability to score consistently, he will, however, be an expensive option for Bayern if they decide to pursue him this summer.

Saša Kalajdžić (VfB Stuttgart)

The tall 6ft 7in striker could be available this summer for a cut-price deal if reports are to be believed. He will be a much cheaper alternative to Schick. However, a shoulder injury that kept him out of action for several weeks this season has prevented the 24-year-old from matching his previous campaign’s tally. Saša Kalajdžić could only play 15 matches across all competitions this season but scored six times. The 2020-21 season was productive for him when he scored 17 goals from 36 games in all competitions. With age on his side, the Austrian has many years ahead of him to reach his full potential.

Jonathan David (Lille)

The young Canadian has been in excellent form with the French club. He played a crucial role in helping them win the Ligue 1 title in the 2020-21 season. He scored 13 goals in 48 games across all competitions that campaign. He bettered that tally by finding the back of the net 19 times in the same number of matches this season. The youngster is only 22 but is already playing like a matured centre-forward. Jonathan David undoubtedly has the potential to be a world-class striker one day, hence any club signing him would be getting a real deal. However, it is unclear if the French club would be willing to sell him this summer.
