Manchester United had a busy transfer window, with plenty of players joining and leaving the club. A lot of activity happened around the deadline day. One such player to walk through the doors of Old Trafford was Sergio Reguilon, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. Left-back was not a position United were looking to improve in this window. However, the injuries suffered by Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia had forced the club to act on it.

With right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka also becoming the latest player to join them on the sidelines, Manchester United only have two established senior first team full-backs – Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon. After joining on loan from Spurs, Reguilon made his debut for the club at the weekend during the 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton. Even though the team was criticised for their display, Reguilon’s performance was one of the positives from that day.

He will now hope to carry that form into the club’s Champions League Group A opener against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. It is still all new at the club for Reguilon, who has not been at Old Trafford for long. However, there is one player who has helped him massively to settle in quickly at United. It is his former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro. Reguilon went on to explain how the Brazilian has helped him since joining the Red Devils.

Sergio Reguilon on Casemiro

“I really have so many good memories with him. A lot of games, training sessions and trips with him. He sent me a message on the first day when I arrived here, saying he could help me if I needed anything at all to do with the club – or the house – he said that he was here for anything I needed. I’m really grateful to him. I have so many people here who are helping me. Casemiro is one of them. It really makes you feel at home when you have people looking out for you from the very first day,” he told ICS recently.

Reguilon then went on to explain how important for him and the team to have a player of Casemiro’s stature at the club. “I have always said that he is a leader on the pitch. He brings so much energy. He is so consistent. I think it is so important in football nowadays to have experienced players like him, who can push everyone to step up the intensity. He is a role model. I mean it’s hard to even know where to begin when you’re talking about his trophies, my goodness!” he added.
