The Euro qualification match between Poland and Moldova will take place at Stadion Narodowy on Monday at 12:15 am IST.
After winning against Faroe Islands, Poland is back at the Stadion Narodowy, in Warsaw, for a match against Moldova in the Euro 2024 qualifying Group E on Monday. Poland swiftly made a coaching change, ending the brief tenure of Fernando Santos and appointing Michal Probierz, who had an impressive run with the Under-21 team. Under Probierz, Poland began their journey with a relatively easy fixture, facing the 131st-ranked Faroe Islands, who had yet to secure a win in Group E. The White-Reds had a comfortable victory in Torshavn.
Despite being second in the group, they are just one point ahead of the Czech Republic, who have played one game less. They enter Sunday’s game with a perfect record in 2023, winning all three of their home fixtures with clean sheets. Moldova recently lost 3-1 to Sweden, with several Moldovan players receiving yellow cards and one, Artur Craciun, being sent off. Jesper Karlsson’s performance, including two goals and setting up Gustaf Lagerbielke, was the difference.
Moldova is yet to make their debut in the Euros but has collected a respectable eight points from five games, putting them in fourth place, level with the Czechs and just one point behind Poland. If results go their way, they could potentially move into second place by the end of the October break. However, for this to happen, they would need the Faroe Islands to at least draw against the Czech Republic. Moldova does have a history of surprising Poland, having come back from a two-goal deficit to secure a historic 3-2 win in June.
Poland’s probable starting lineup: Szczesny, Kedziora, Kiwior, Peda, Cash, D. Szymanski, Slisz, Frankowski, S. Szymanski, Zielinski, Buksa
Moldova’s probable starting lineup: Railean, Revenco, Posman, Craciun, Marandici, Reabciuk, Platica, Baboglo, Moypan, Rata, Nicolaescu
