Plymouth will kickstart their campaign against Huddersfield Town at the Home Park on Saturday in their 23/24 EFL Championship. For the first time since the 2009-10 season, Plymouth is in the second tier of English football. The Pilgrims have gained promotion after winning League One last season to gain a Championship ticket. Steven Schumacher’s side accrued 101 points from 46 games in the third division. Plymouth finished three points clear at the top to earn automatic promotion. It was an impressive campaign for Plymouth last season. The Pilgrims won 31 games and lost only seven times. The Pilgrims boasted of the second-best attacking record with 82 goals in League One. Plymouth also kept themselves lively with a ton of pre-season friendlies. They also made a lot of noise in the transfer market by signing five crucial players, including Lewis Gibson from Everton.
However, things are not that good for Huddersfield. The Terriers avoided relegation by nine points last season. It was a turbulent campaign for the Terriers. Huddersfield picked up 14 wins in 46 games and changed four managers. However, the pre-season friendlies have reaped positive results for Neil Warnock’s boys. Huddersfield has remained dormant in the transfer window this summer. They have only signed Chris Maxwell from Blackpool.
Talking about injury concerns and missing players, there are a few misses from both camps. Brendan Galloway, Macaulay Gillesphey and Michael Cooper will not be in action for the Pilgrims. While Mikel Miller is doubtful for Saturday’s clash. For the Terriers, Jonathan Hogg, Tom Lees, David Kasumu & Ollie Turton will not be in action.
