Germany is looking to secure their third consecutive victory as they face Mexico in an international friendly in the United States. The hosts of Euro 2024 are coming into this match on the back of a 3-1 win over the USA. In contrast, Mexico, who are co-hosting the 2026 World Cup with Canada and the United States, recently got a 2-0 victory against Ghana. Despite being the reigning CONCACAF Gold Cup champions, Mexico faced challenges in the 2022 World Cup, being eliminated in the group stage. It was the first time since 1978 that they failed to progress beyond the initial stage of the competition.

Jaime Lozano’s team has played three friendly matches since their Gold Cup success in July. They had drawn with Australia and Uzbekistan in September before securing a 2-0 victory over Ghana in their most recent match. In their previous encounters with Germany, Mexico has faced them 12 times and has only managed to win twice. However, they did emerge victorious in their last meeting during the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.

Julian Nagelsmann was recently appointed as Germany’s new head coach, and he got off to a winning start in his tenure. As the hosts of Euro 2024, the DFB-Team is exempt from the qualification process and is currently playing friendly matches. Germany’s most recent competitive match was at the 2022 World Cup, where they secured a 4-2 victory over Costa Rica. They have reached the semi-finals in two of the last three European Championship tournaments and are considered strong contenders for the upcoming competition next summer, benefiting from home advantage.
