With the international break done and dusted, the attention has firmly shifted to domestic football. Manchester United will hope for better fortunes in the coming weeks with no more international disruption set to happen for months now. Erik ten Hag will hope that this would allow his team to bond well as a unit and rediscover their last season form, which saw them finish third in the Premier League and win the Carabao Cup.

However, it will not be easy for Manchester United, with a difficult away game against Everton set to happen on Sunday in the Premier League. Keeping in mind, Everton’s 10-point deduction, the players will be pumped up for the clash. The same can be expected from the home supporters, hence it will not be an easy clash for the Red Devils. On top of it, United also have to deal with injuries of their own.

They have several first-team players out injured, with the latest to join them are Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund. The duo picked up different injuries during the narrow 1-0 triumph over Luton Town in their last match before the international break. During that game, Eriksen suffered a knee issue, while Hojlund sustained a muscle strain. After the visit to Merseyside, United have trips lined up to Galatasaray and Newcastle United.

When will Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund be fit?

Ahead of the clash against Everton, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag provided an update on the fitness situation of Eriksen and Hojlund. “Christian will take a little bit longer. It will take some weeks until he will return. Rasmus Hojlund, not too bad. Everton will be a close finish but we’re working on that. We’re not sure if he can make that but, hopefully, in the next week, he will return to the squad,” ten Hag told the Premier League.

United have a run of three difficult away games to start their campaign after the final international break of 2023. However, the players can take confidence from their three successive away wins against Burnley, Sheffield United and Fulham in the Premier League. “All games are very important, but our away record this season so far is very good,” the manager told beIN SPORTS.

“We can take confidence and strong belief into those games. But [we need to] go from game to game, the first game is the most important – Everton – and we’re looking forward [to it].” Speaking about the difficulty of playing in a challenging atmosphere like Galatasaray, ten Hag added, “You could see that this team has personality and character in hostile environments, like in Copenhagen. We deal with it. I feel quite comfortable [away from home].”
