The two big Manchester clubs have a chance to end their season with a trophy on Saturday, as they prepare for a gruelling FA Cup final. Defending champions Manchester City will be the favourites in the final against an inconsistent Manchester United. Both teams have experienced indifferent form this campaign, with City winning their fourth successive Premier League crown. On the other hand, United have disappointingly finished eight in the league table.

Andre Onana was signed by Manchester United last summer to help them play out from the back. However, Onana struggled to settle down in his new environment and made some uncharacteristic mistakes at the start of his tenure with the club. But the goalkeeper has become an important part of the team’s setup now and has played a key role in the club reaching the FA Cup final.

Onana was part of the Inter Milan team that lost to Manchester City in the Champions League final last season. He is now keen to make things right in this final against City. “Well, that is what is nice in football, because you always have an opportunity to make your revenge. We all know how important it is for us, so our minds at the moment are on Wembley, so we’ll go there full of energy and a lot of determination only to win,” Onana told the club media.

Onana has experience of playing in big finals before and spoke about the importance of having that ahead of the Wembley showdown with City. “You know, it’s always helpful to have this experience, especially playing this kind of game. But like I always say, as a player, you train every day. You wake up every day and you train hard every day to play this kind of game. So we go there with the winning mentality. We know it’s a very good team. We are used to facing them. We will go there to win, to play our game. It’s not going to be easy, but we will be there to represent Manchester United,” he stated.

Despite the negatives this season, the one constant has been Diogo Dalot’s impressive form. The Portuguese full-back’s contribution has not gone unnoticed, with him being named the club’s players’ player of the season. Heaping praise on Dalot, Onana said, “He’s a positive player. He’s very positive. He’s one of the players who play with a lot of energy, a lot of personality. It’s just nice to play with this guy. It doesn’t matter how things are going, he is positive. We go, we go, we go. It doesn’t matter. We just fight. We fight together. We work together. We lose together and we win together. For me as a goalkeeper, having Diogo on my side is just the gift of God.”
