The Maldives continued to wait for their first Asia Cup appearance after failing to advance past the third round by placing third in their group.
On Wednesday, Malaysia will host the Maldives at the Kuala Lumpur Stadium in Kuala Lumpur in a friendly match. This will be the final exhibition game for the Tigers of Malaya prior to the start of the upcoming AFF Championship. Kim Pan-team gon’s will start their campaign in Yangon on December 21. They were placed in Group B with Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos. Malaysia is looking to build on its 4-0 friendly victory over Cambodia on Friday, their first since June, when they defeated Bangladesh 4-1 to secure their place in the 2023 Asia Cup.
