Jack Grealish has gradually grown into becoming an important part of Manchester City’s setup lately. The England international had a tough start to life at the Etihad Stadium before slowly finding his feet at the club. He was an important part of the team’s treble winning campaign last season, as the Blues from Manchester enjoyed a memorable campaign on multiple fronts. He also started this season on a positive note before injury hampered his progress in August.

Grealish recently returned from injury and has once again started to make an impact for Manchester City. The 28-year-old played full 90 minutes against Young Boys in the Champions League this midweek. After the game, Grealish informed that how he does not expect to play every match for the team. “That’s my first 90 minutes in about six weeks. It’s what I wanted,” Grealish, quoted on the club’s website, said after their recent Champions League win.

‘We have so much talent all over the pitch’

He added: “Obviously, I want to play every game and to play the 90 tonight was nice. We have so much talent all over the pitch – I don’t think I expect to play every game and I don’t think anyone does. The manager has a tough job picking an 11 every single week. It’s a pleasure to play in this team and what a team it is. I love being out there playing with the boys.”

Manchester City’s impressive 3-0 win over Young Boys sealed their passage to the round-of-16 of the Champions League. They now have a chance to top the group with a win over RB Leipzig in their next match. “We achieved what we set out to do. That was the plan – we have so many games every year as a team. To get the job done with two games to spare is what we set out to do and thankfully we’ve done it. Leipzig are a very good team – we want to win the game to top the group with a game to spare. Champions League nights at the Etihad are unmatched. They’re brilliant. We haven’t lost here for a good while now so hopefully many more nights like this,” he explained.

Jack Grealish on Pep Guardiola

Earlier, Grealish showered praise on Pep Guardiola by calling him “the best manager in the world.” “Guardiola gives us so much. In my opinion he’s the best manager in the world. He’s shown that over the years. You can have the best manager in the world, but you also need the team and dressing room to do that,” he explained.

He added: “We have a brilliant team, on the pitch and also off the pitch, we have a team that is so close. We love being with each other and we love playing with each other and that shows on the pitch. Before the game, the manager said to me that when we have the ball, we normally go from me to Kovacic to Rodri. But he said when they have the five at the back, hit it to the other side straight away. Instead of going to each player because that takes longer. I got it to Phil [Foden] straight away to get at the defender one on one and that’s what he did.”
