This season, Serie B club - Parma - paid tribute to the iconic goalkeeper's return by producing a one-of-a-kind jersey for Buffon.
Gianluigi Buffon is one of the best goalkeepers who has ever set foot onto a football pitch. The World Cup winner in 2006 has had a long and successful career with his national team and domestic clubs. In a career that began in 1995, the Italian has only played for three clubs. Outside of Italy, he has only played for French giants Paris Saint-Germain. The 44-year-old began his career with Parma and has returned to the club once again this season. He will, however, be remembered for his contributions during his long tenure with Juventus. He was instrumental in assisting the Old Lady’s dominance in Serie A.
Buffon has spent the majority of his career in Italy, with the exception of one season with French giants Paris Saint-Germain. His supporters adore him for his dedication and grit on the football field, which has enabled him to continue playing even at the age of 44. Buffon was a member of the mighty Italian team that emerged as a global force in the 1990s and 2000s. Their reward was an incredible World Cup victory in 2006. Since then, Buffon has become a household name in his native Italy.

This season, the Serie B club paid tribute to the iconic goalkeeper’s return by producing a one-of-a-kind jersey for Buffon. The Errea keeper shirt for the 2021-22 kit is inspired by Parma’s Lotto keeper shirt from 1998-99. On both the body and the sleeves, it is red with horizontal blue stripes.
However, it differs from the original shirt in that the stripes do not extend all the way to the back. Moreover, these stripes feature unique graphics. Gianluigi Buffon returned to Parma in 2021 after a 20-year absence. The club and Errea released this throwback jersey to commemorate the iconic goalkeeper’s return to where it all started for him.

Buffon’s long international career came to an end in 2018. Despite having previously announced his retirement, the goalkeeper made a brief comeback in 2018. However, Buffon finally announced his international retirement in May of that year. Largely, throughout his playing career, Buffon wore the famous No. 1 jersey for Italy.
