Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Gerard Pique first started his career in the youth team of FC Barcelona – primary as a defensive midfielder. But he then signed his professional contract with Manchester United as a center-back in the year 2004. After his notable performances at Old Trafford, and being a part of the United squad that won the Premier League (2007/08) and UEFA Champions League (2007/08) Pique returned to his boyhood club in 2008.

During the 2009 Champions League Final, Pique faced his former club – Manchester United. The team then went on to win 2-0 and thereby completed their historic treble.
