Fantasy Premier League managers have gone through another Gameweek that was filled with unexpected outcomes, moments of joy and disappointment, thanks to surprising results, numerous red cards, and controversial incidents. As we approach Gameweek 10, it’s a fresh opportunity for managers to either reset their strategies or make adjustments to their teams in the hopes of achieving success in the upcoming matches.

While Erling Haaland found his scoring form again during the midweek action, he isn’t the top choice for the captain’s armband in Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 10. With the upcoming Manchester derby at Old Trafford posing a challenge, and several other players in good form, perhaps it’s time for fantasy managers to think about alternative captain options. We’ve identified the most promising candidates for the captaincy in the upcoming FPL Gameweek 10.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland has struggled to maintain his exceptional performance levels in recent FPL matches, having scored just two goals in his last four games and managed only five shots on goal during that period. However, he is still, identified by some, the top choice for captain in FPL Gameweek 10. Haaland continues to be the Premier League’s leading goalscorer this season, with nine goals scored compared to an expected goals (xG) of 8.11. He also leads in the category of “big chances” with 15. Moreover, he serves as Manchester City’s penalty taker and has previously excelled in this fixture, boasting three goals and two assists in two appearances.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is considered the second-best option for captaincy in FPL Gameweek 10, but in practice, he is likely to be the most captained player among engaged managers, having collected a league-leading 75 points this season. With four matches of earning double-digit points in his last five outings, he also tops the charts for shots on goal, registering 15 in the past four gameweeks. Playing at home against Nottingham Forest certainly works in his favor, as he has scored in every league game at Anfield this season. Nottingham Forest has had their struggles on the road, conceding two goals against Arsenal and Manchester City, and three against Manchester United.

Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins presents a compelling captaincy option for FPL this weekend, having collected an impressive total of 48 FPL points in the last four gameweeks. He is a potent force when on a hot streak, having delivered ten attacking returns in five games. Additionally, he leads in shots inside the box during that time. Being at home should play to his advantage, given that he has achieved double-digit hauls in his last two home appearances, earning 23 points against Brighton and 11 points against West Ham. Luton Town, the upcoming opponents, are still searching for their first clean sheet of the season.
