Arsenal suffered a shock 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest in the FA cup fixture at City Ground on Sunday. Lewis Grabban scored the lone goal of the match in the 83rd minute to take the championship side through to the fourth round, where they will meet Leicester city. Premier League side Arsenal produced a disjointed performance as they failed to register even a single shot on target while Forest continued their good form under Steve Cooper. Elsewhere, Liverpool came from behind to thrash Shrewsbury 4-1 at Anfield.

Forest, as expected, came out with a game plan to sit back and defend and hit the opposition on the counter. And, they executed that to perfection. Despite having more than 65 percent of ball possession, Arsenal struggled to find a way through a well drilled Forest defense.

Meanwhile Forest crested the better chances at the other end and visiting goalkeeper Bernd Leno was tested on a number of occasions. Brennan Johnson outran Cedric on the right flank before delivering a cut back for Philip Zinckernagel inside the box. Leno had to get down quickly to deny the Danish footballer at the near post.

At the other end, Saka teased Jack Colback and crossed for Nketiah. The striker pulled off the back of Joe Worrall and had completely miscued his effort and it went wide. It was Arsenal’s best chance of the game.

James Garner’s free-kick was well saved by Leno after the hour-mark before Grabban netted the winner, seven minutes from time. Lokonga lost the ball in the midfield and Ryan Yates was released down the right flank. The Englishman  provided the cross for Grabban to slide in and win it for Forest from six yards out.

Liverpool 4-1 Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury took a surprise lead against the 2019 Champions League winners in the 27th minute. Nathanael Ogbeta controlled a long ball from the back pretty well before going past Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley and delivering the cross for Daniel Udoh to slot home from close range in the 27th minute.

Seven minutes later, Liverpool equalized through Kaide Gordon. Bradley delivered the cross for Gordon in front of goal. The English teenager showed great composure to pick his spot beyond goalkeeper Marko Marosi. At 17 years and 96 days, Gordon became Liverpool’s second-youngest goalscorer.

Fabinho’s penalty put Liverpool in front just before the half-time and substitute Roberto Firmino’s clever backheel extended the lead in the 78th minute. Fabinho completed his brace in stoppage time to seal the win for the Reds.
