Sean Dyche will be desperate to move Everton out of the relegation zone as he takes charge of the Merseyside club for the first time on Saturday against Premier League leaders Arsenal. This is not the opening match Dyche would have preferred, considering the poor run of form Everton find themselves in this season. Placed second from bottom, things are not going good for the Goodison Park outfit. It has resulted in the sacking of former manager Frank Lampard and he was swiftly replaced by Dyche.

Their supporters would now hope that their fortunes change with the arrival of the new manager. Dyche had earlier managed Burnley in the Premier League. He has experience of helping his team fight the relegation scrap and secure their league status, which is Everton’s immediate priority. Dyche has done it time and again with Burnley before, and his new club’s supporters would hope that he can produce that magic once again.

However, he will find it difficult to start on a positive note against the most in-form side in the Premier League in Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s side have been mighty impressive this campaign. They have lost only once in the league, while winning 16 of their 19 matches. Overall, the Gunners have 50 points to have a five-point cushion over second-placed Manchester City. On the other hand, Everton are occupying the 19th spot in the standings after managing just 15 points from 20 games.

Possible Lineups

There are a good number of players who could be missing this match for both sides. Nathan Patterson and Andros Townsend will be out of the Everton squad. There are also question marks over the availability of Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane and James Garner. It will also be interesting to see what formation Dyche will use in his first game.

On the other hand, Arsenal supporters will be eager to see their new signing Jorginho in action. However, it is unclear if the Italian midfielder, who moved from Chelsea, will be involved from start in this match. His participation also depends on Thomas Partey’s injury situation. One thing is clear that they would definitely miss Mohamed Elneny for the long term. He will join Gabriel Jesus on the sidelines. Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson’s participation is also in doubt.

Everton possible line-up: Pickford, Coleman, Tarkowski, Coady, Mykolenko, Onana, Gueye, Iwobi, McNeil, Gray, Calvert-Lewin

Arsenal possible line-up: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko, Xhaka, Partey, Odegaard, Saka, Trossard, Nketiah
