Matchweek 2 of the English Premier League will see a huge London derby as Arsenal welcome European champions, Chelsea, at the Emirates Stadium. Fans of the Blues will hope to see new signing Romelu Lukaku in action while the Gunners fans will hope that they deliver far better performance than their previous match if they want to come away from the game with at least one point. Manchester United will face Southampton at St Mary’s while Liverpool will welcome Burnley to Anfield. Defending champions Manchester City will look to record their first win of the season when they face Norwich City and a confident Tottenham Hotspur side will travel to the Molineux to face Wolverhampton Wanderers.

LIVERPOOL HOST BURNLEY

The action of the week will begin at Anfield where Liverpool will host a tricky Burnley side. They had lost their opening game to Brighton and Hove Albion and would not be that high on confidence, which would make them easy pickings for a very strong Liverpool side at home. Jurgen Klopp’s men, on the other hand, got off to a strong start thanks to a 3-0 win against Norwich. They will be hoping to continue the good form and secure their first home win of the campaign.

CITY TO TAKE ON NORWICH

The focus will then shift to the Etihad Stadium where defending champions Manchester City will host newly-promoted Norwich. City had fallen to a shock defeat in their first game against a very well-drilled Spurs side at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in their first game. Pep Guardiola will be hoping that his side can earn the three points at home and get the season up and running. Fans will be hoping that new signing Jack Grealish has a positive impact on the game to get his City career well and truly underway.

UNITED TRAVEL TO ST MARY’S

Manchester United are currently at the top of the Premier League table after a thumping 5-1 victory against rivals Leeds at Old Trafford in the opening week. The likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba seemed to be in red hot form as the duo absolutely dominated the match. United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be looking for a similar level of performance against Southampton at St Mary’s. The match could also see Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane make their first starts for the club.

NUNO RETURNS TO MOLINEUX

It will be a homecoming for Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo as his team will travel to the Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers. Spurs will be a highly confident side going into the tie thanks to their brilliant 1-0 victory against the defending champions on opening day. It would be interesting to see if Harry Kane will be a part of the starting lineup considering the current transfer situation surrounding him. However, the likes of Son and Moura will be looking to deliver to secure the second victory of the season for the North London club.

THE LONDON DERBY

The blockbuster encounter of the week certainly will be the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea. The Gunners fell to an embarrassing 2-0 defeat against Brentford on the opening day while Chelsea comfortably beat Crystal Palace 3-0. On paper, the European champions are the heavy favourites, especially with the new signing Romelu Lukaku likely to make an appearance. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping that his team could at least rescue a point against the Blues, but their level of performance to achieve that would have to drastically improve.
