Atalanta have reportedly shown interest in signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham. The Englishman is also on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs, that includes Arsenal, West Ham and Aston Villa. The Serie A side held a meeting this week to assess their targets as Inter Milan is interested in signing Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata. It is to be noted that Abraham hasn’t been having the best of time in London since Thomas Tuchel took charge of The Blues in January 2020. The 23-year-old striker wasn’t considered as the first-choice striker on Tuchel’s side.

Inter Milan are looking at Zapata as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku who they believe may leave the club to join Chelsea if the reported GBP 100 million plus deal goes through. Therefore Atalanta is looking at Abraham as a replacement for Zapata, if he departs.

Chelsea value Abraham at GBP 40 million but Atalanta are expected to offer GBP 25 million plus added bonuses. Meanwhile, the Gunners and West Ham are also interested in the 23-year-old. The 23-year-old knows where the back of the net is and he has scored 26 goals in 89 Premier League appearances. He has also netted 48 times in 79 appearances in the Championship.

Aston Villa who are likely to get some money after Jack Grealish’s reported British record transfer of GBP 100 million to Manchester City is completed. Therefore they would have enough in their pocket to bring in the former Bristol City striker to partner Danny Ings, who joined Villa for GBP 25 million from Southampton this summer.

Atalanta are due in England for a friendly match against West Ham and therefore are likely to discuss whether they can afford a proposed move for the Englishman. The Serie A club has had some good seasons off late as they managed to qualify for the Champions League consecutively. And they are now looking to stay there at the top of the Italian league alongside the big guns AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus and could even challenge for the title.

Central defender Christian Romero who played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s impressive last season is close to signing a GBP 42 million deal to join Tottenham Hotspur.
