2026 will see a new constructor as Audi gears up for its Formula One debut. The German car brand has been a part of motorsports since the late 1970s, winning a number of honors including four WRC titles, two DTM titles, European and American Le Mans titles, and several others. Perhaps their greatest feat in motorsport came in the period from 2010 to 2014 when they won five consecutive Le Mans titles. The constructor might be making its F1 debut in 2016, but Formula racing has seen Audi before. In 2017, they made their debut in Formula E and shocked the world to win the constructor’s title that very year.

There have been rumors of Audi joining F1 for a number of months now. The fact that it is finally coming to fruition will be a huge boost for the overall brand of F1, and of course, the world of motorsport. As we anticipate Audi’s first race on an F1 track, here is a look at how each of the 2022 constructors fared in their first ever F1 race.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo were the first-ever winners of Formula One. When the sport began, way back in 1950, the Italian constructor had come up with the most competitive car at the time, winning the constructor’s title for two consecutive years in 1950 and 1951. Their first ever race was the 1950 British Grand Prix which was won by their own driver, Nino Farina.

Alpine

While the team was formerly called Renault and Lotus before that, the BWT Alpine F1 team formally made its debut in the 2021 season with Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. The team made its debut at the 2021 Bahrain GP which saw Ocon finish P13 and Alonso suffering a DNF.

AlphaTauri

Formerly known as Scuderia Toro Rosso, the Red Bull Racing sister team made its debut at the 2006 Bahrain Grand Prix with Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed. Neither driver could finish in the points as Liuzzi finished P11 and Speed P13.

Aston Martin

Although fans remember the UK-based constructor to make its debut in 2021 with Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel after Lawrence Stroll bought Racing Point, the team’s F1 history goes back along way. Aston Martin’s official F1 debut came at the 1959 Dutch Grand Prix with Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby. Neither driver, however, could finish the race.

Ferrari

The greatest constructor of them all and the only one to be a part of every single Formula One season so far, Ferrari’s F1 history goes back over 70 years. The prancing horse made its debut at the 1950 Monaco Grand Prix with Alberto Ascari and Raymond Sommer. Ascari finished the race in P2 while Sommer finished P4, capping off a great first day for the Scuderia.

Haas

Haas made their debut in Formula One in 2016 with Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez. The American constructor’s debut race was at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. While Gutierrez could not complete the race due to a collision, Grosjean delivered a fine drive and managed to finish P6.

McLaren

The papaya team is the second most iconic name in F1 history after Ferrari. McLaren made its Formula One debut at the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix with Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon. However, it was not a day to remember. Amon withdrew from the race before its commencement and Bruce could not finish due to an oil leak.

Mercedes

Today, they are seen as the most dominant constructor’s champions in recent times, and dominant is how they were in their very first F1 race. The Silver Arrows made their Formula One debut at the 1954 French Grand Prix with Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling. Fangio finished P1 and Kling finished P2 that day, giving the German constructor the best start of any constructor in F1 history.

Red Bull Racing

With David Coulthard and Christian Klien in their ranks, Red Bull Racing made their debut at the 2005 Australian Grand Prix. The race ended with Coulthard finishing P4 and Klien finishing P8 in what was a decent debut race for the Milton-Keynes-based team.

Williams

The 1978 Argentine Grand Prix saw the debut of Williams in Formula One as a constructor. At the time, the team only fielded one driver, Alan Jones, who unfortunately could not finish the race due to a fuel system error.
