You, a Child of Sin; I, a Child of Sin: Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 Episode 8 Overview.

The president of the Detective Agency is arrested, and Kunikida is missing after having blown himself up with a grenade

As the Mafia chopper arrived to pick up the Agency, Kunikida was stunned that the Mafia had come to their rescue. Chūya quickly corrected him, explaining that they had only been saved because of a deal made between Fukuzawa and Mori. The price of their rescue was the transfer of an Agency member to the Mafia. Despite the ambiguity of the situation, Tanizaki pointed out that it had prevented their arrest and saved Yosano from being killed. Kunikida, however, insisted that ideals alone were not enough to save them and that they needed to start being more realistic. This statement confused the others.

Kunikida remembered Jōno’s previous criticism of his ideals and began to question his own beliefs. He then saw Kenji get stabbed by Tetchō’s blade as he attempted to stop their escape. The Hunting Dog then tried to grab onto the chopper, but Kunikida leaped at him after entrusting Tanizaki with finding the true mastermind. With unwavering resolve, Kunikida created a hand grenade using an emergency page from his notebook and sacrificed himself to blow up Tetchō, leaving Tanizaki horrified.

Two days later, Atsushi and Kyōka emerged from hiding at the scene of the hostage crisis. Atsushi expressed his concern about Fukuzawa’s arrest and Kunikida’s fate after his selfless act. Kyōka advised him to focus on their survival first. News reports soon surfaced declaring the Agency a terrorist organization. Kyōka then laid out a plan for their future, unsure of what else they could do. Atsushi grew increasingly frustrated, feeling like he was failing the agency that had always saved him. Suddenly, he heard Dazai’s voice ask if he had given up.

Atsushi clung to a sliver of hope, desperately trying to figure out their next move. As he racked his brain, he wondered what Dazai would do in their shoes. Suddenly, an idea struck him – the only lead they had to prove the Agency’s innocence was the missing Mushitaro. Atsushi knew they had to find him, and fast.

To track down Mushitaro, Atsushi and Kyoka set out to meet Francis, hoping he would use his Eyes of God to help them. But Kyoka hesitated, unsure if it was wise to seek assistance from a former enemy. Atsushi reminded her of how Dazai had been able to work with Francis during the cannibalism incident, and urged her to trust his instincts.

As they made their way to Francis, they stumbled upon a chaotic scene – Louisa was wounded and Francis was locked in battle with Nathaniel, who had apparently been brainwashed by the Rats. Francis managed to graze Nathaniel with his ability before the priest fled.

Meanwhile, Mori met with the three Agency members in the Mafia hideout, but had no news of Kunikida’s whereabouts. He did, however, mention that Dazai had been passed around several agencies, and his current location was unknown.

Atsushi tried to convince Francis of the Agency’s innocence, but the latter only laughed, dismissing Atsushi’s claims as foolish. Despite Atsushi’s seriousness, Francis warned him that Fyodor was a formidable foe who could not be defeated. Fyodor was being held in Europe’s impenetrable Meursault prison, and he had already plotted to eliminate Francis before the Agency could even use the Eyes of God.

As Francis picked up the fountain pen he had thrown at Nathaniel, the priest’s Spell Bullet suddenly activated. Francis accepted his fate, knowing he could not dodge the surprise attack. He closed his eyes, ready to meet his end.

Fyodor basked in the glory of his successful plan, but his mind wandered to the notion that perfection was monotonous. Suddenly, a new prisoner appeared in his cell. Kyōka had activated the sprinklers upon seeing a warning on the displays, thwarting Fyodor’s plan to dilute the blood for Spell Bullet. Fyodor was stunned but overjoyed to learn that the new prisoner was Dazai himself, who had surrendered to confront Fyodor and save the Agency.

Aoki provided an update on Taneda’s condition, which was uncertain, and Murakoso expressed regret for not accompanying him during his encounter with the enemy. However, Ango reminded them that it was a condition set by the criminal for them to meet alone. Ango believed that Taneda was confident in his ability to obtain information as he had done in the past, but the criminal had outsmarted him.

Ango entrusted Taneda’s care to his escorts while he ventured out into the field. Aoki suggested that he should wait until Taneda awakened, but Ango declined. As he reflected on Taneda’s instructions to him to kill the Decay of the Angel to preserve peace, even if it meant sacrificing the law and human lives, Ango realized that Taneda was willing to let himself die for the greater good. He vowed to report the case’s closure to Taneda when he woke up and promised to take down the criminal himself.

In Meursault, Fyodor and Dazai began their unconventional group life counseling, sharing advice on seemingly trivial issues until they broached the topic of how they communicated with their allies outside Meursault. Fyodor was confident that his communication method would never be discovered, but Dazai disagreed, saying that Fyodor would eventually slip up.

As Atsushi asked Francis to use his Eyes of God to locate Mushitarō, Francis revealed his price for helping them. He demanded Yosano to revive Margaret, who was comatose, so she could kill Nathaniel. Atsushi was disgusted by Francis’s request to have two people who had saved each other to kill each other, and decided to call off the deal. However, Francis insisted on showing them Margaret’s worsening condition, which made Atsushi realize the suffering of others and ultimately accept the deal. Kyōka supported his decision, seeing that it aligned with Atsushi’s philosophy of helping those in need.

Meanwhile, at the Mafia hideout, Mori revealed that the deal with Fukuzawa only included the rescue of the Agency in exchange for one of its members, which turned out to be Yosano. Yosano was terrified by the revelation, while Mori grew suspicious that Francis had chosen to help the crumbling Agency instead of the more profitable Hunting Dogs. Knowing Francis’s tendency to side with the strong, Mori assumed that the transaction was likely a trap.

To add to their worries, Hirotsu handed Mori a radio, and Francis spoke on the other end, claiming to have sent Atsushi to their hideout in exchange for Yosano. He promised to provide intel that could restore the Agency’s status if they succeeded. Mori’s doubts grew stronger, considering the possibility of Francis using his Eyes of God to locate their hideout and orchestrating a trap. Despite the uncertainty, the Agency had no choice but to proceed with the deal and hope for the best.
