The fans are excited for X-Men ’97 Episode 4 which will be out soon. Even though it uses a more contemporary animation style, the show will make an effort to stay true to the original in terms of tone, style, and subject matter. It will also feature new characters like Sunspot among well-known ones like Cyclops, Wolverine, and Rogue. Some of the voice actors from the prequel will even return for this installment.

Following Season 5’s cliffhanger, in which Professor Xavier appeared to be on the verge of death, the story will resume. When Magneto joins the X-Men in 1997, X-Men ’97 will likely address their differences. You can see that Jean Grey is pregnant in the trailer as well, which opens the door to a lot of juicy comic book scenarios. Another intriguing aspect is the riot against mutants, which could indicate a more political tone than typical in the animation.

Previously in Episode 3

Beast learns that the Jean they were with before—Nathan’s mother—is actually a clone. The fact that the others aren’t sure irritates her even more, yet she still refuses to believe it. When she’s alone, Mr. Sinister begins to exert control over her by pretending to be her father—all in an effort to get his hands on Nathan.

The house becomes a real nightmare when she unleashes her powers on it. The X-Men face monsters that bring out their worst anxieties and nightmares. Thankfully, that comes to a halt as the genuine Jean awakens.

She also communicates with her clone and helps them erase each other’s memories later on. Scott is able to rescue Nathan with the help of the clone Jean once she regains control of her body. But the baby is still in danger, even after they drive the evil away. He has contracted a techno-organic virus that might prove fatal as a result of Sinister’s experimentation.

Clone Jean proposes that Bishop transport Nathan to the future, where a potential solution to the baby’s plight may exist prior to any negative events. The concept bothers Cyclops, but he allows it to go through nevertheless. The psychic, who has rechristened herself Madelyne Pryor, leaves the mansion shortly after, bidding farewell to the actual Jean.
