Spoiler Warning: The first episode of Kaiju No. 8 will begin with action and Kaiju battling right away. The plot revolves around Hibino Kafka’s transformation into a Kaiju.
After a Kaiju battle, he helps clean up the city as part of the cleanup squad. Ichikawa Reno, a fresh recruit, will be meeting with him. They will both wind up in the emergency room after rescuing him from a Kaiju onslaught. There, Kafka’s fortunes and circumstances will alter.
People in Japan have long claimed to have seen horrific monsters, or “kaijuu,” that look like Godzilla. The Defense Corps is a special military unit that confronts these creatures on a daily basis, putting their lives on the line to defend humanity. The disposal of deceased monsters is the responsibility of the “sweepers” employed by the Professional Kaijuu Cleaner Corporation.
The job of sweeper is a living hell for Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old guy. His lifelong goal has always been to enlist in the Defense Corps and become a kaiju killer.
But after a few failed attempts, he gave in to the mediocrity that paid the bills. The 18-year-old recruit, Leno Ichikawa, serves as a constant reminder of Kafka’s aspiration to enlist in the military when he becomes a member of his cleaning squad.
Kafka transforms into a monster with human characteristics following a string of unfortunate events and a chat with the junior sweeper. This transformation occurs when a parasite-type kaiju enters his mouth. Using his newfound skills, Kafka intends to finally attempt his long-awaited ambition.
