For quite some time, Overwatch fans have been clamouring for the release date of the game’s long-awaited sequel. Despite the fact that the beta is already available, the finished product for Overwatch 2 does not appear to be coming any time soon. The first game in the series was released in 2016, and the hero shooter is still very popular today. However, new information about the sequel is slowly being released. When Will Overwatch 2 Get Released?

Overwatch sequel set to release some time next year

Unfortunately, it does not appear that Overwatch 2 will be released this year. According to Blizzard’s third-quarter earnings call last year, the sequel to the famous shooter will be released in 2023. Little is known about the reason for the delay. According to popular belief, the developers, like most other game development companies, were forced to halt production during the pandemic.

Despite the fact that the sequel was announced in 2019, BlizzCon 2020 had to be cancelled. BlizzCon 2021, thankfully, was able to take place in a virtual setting. Some gamers may be surprised by this, given that the beta for the upcoming game is currently available. There are only four new maps.

What To Expect From Overwatch 2?

This sequel appears to be undergoing significant changes. Instead of the usual 6v6 format, it appears that the sequel will use a 5v5 format, similar to a MOBA. The team must consist of two healers, two DPS attackers, and one tank. This takes out a tank from the previous title. It appears that the sequel will also change the way some characters play. Doomfist, for example, is no longer a DPS attacker but rather a tank with increased health.

Gamers will be able to try out the Canadian Captain Sojourn as soon as the game is released. She appears to have some excellent abilities, including a Disruptor Beam and a fairly powerful Railgun blast.
