Where Chapter One Piece 1048 was left off was more like the beginning of the end, and not the end itself, like most people had anticipated. For now, we are yet to witness a lot. For starters, Eiichiro Oda has consistently delivered fantastic One Piece chapters. The battle between Kaido and Luffy continues, and Monkey D. Luffy has finally reached Gear 5, revealing several new abilities of the Straw Hats Pirates captain. We’ve seen Luffy transform into a giant in order to dominate Kaido in his dragon form, and then capture lightning to use as a weapon in the fight. Kaido, who can still fight Luffy’s new form, revealed his Flaming Dragon form. In this form, Kaido burned Onigashima’s horn simply by touching it. Following that, Kaido challenges Luffy to continue his attack, and Luffy, as expected, does not back down. The captain of the Straw Hat Pirates then launches his new attack, “Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun.” Interestingly, Bajrang Bali, or Lord Hanuman, is a Hindu deity. As a result, several One Piece characters quickly grasped the significance of Luffy’s “Bajrang gun” attack. Following this, fans began to draw parallels between Lord Hanuman’s powers and Monkey D. Luffy’s newly discovered abilities.
Lord Hanuman growing in size was mentioned in Ramayan, an ancient Sanskrit Epic, and this is something we’ve seen Luffy do in recent chapters. Aside from that, some fans believe Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon, is based on Lord Hanuman’s father, Vayudev, or the Wind God. Vayudev is the Hindu god of the winds, and Monkey D. Dragon possessed wind-related abilities due to the Wind Fruit. Of course, it’s difficult to say how many of Luffy’s abilities are truly influenced by Lord Hanuman. However, it’s always interesting to see small references like this in manga chapters.
