Since its launch in 2020, Valorant, the popular first-person shooter, has experienced numerous alterations and refinements. These modifications often involve minor adjustments to maps, weaponry, and Agents aimed at enhancing gameplay equilibrium. Valorant’s Pro Gamers Express Discontent with New Smoke Alterations in Patch 7.08

Nevertheless, some of these modifications have received a less than enthusiastic reception from the gaming community. In the upcoming patch, labeled 7.08, pro gamers are voicing their dissatisfaction with the new changes to smoke mechanics.

Valorant Players’ Critique of Patch 7.08 Smoke Adjustments

Commencing with patch 7.08, Astra, Brimstone, and Omen’s smokes will now include an audio and visual cue that lasts for 1.5 seconds before the smokes dissipate.

This alteration has provoked concern among players, particularly among professional gamers, who argue that it diminishes the game’s skill ceiling.

G2’s coach, JoshRT, remarked, “Riot appears to be adhering to their typical approach of reducing the entry-level skill to enhance the experience for lower-ranked players. While smoke timing remains crucial at the professional level, it is now less punishing.”

Some gamers have asserted that the developers are focusing on the wrong modifications and have urged them to address other issues first.

S0m commented, “You’re concentrating on the wrong adjustments. First, fix the Judge, and then we can address other concerns.”

Evil Geniuses’ ScrewFace expressed his disapproval of the change, stating, “I am not fond of this alteration; it seems to lower the skill ceiling for controller players, which is unfortunate. It will be intriguing to observe how this change influences gunfights.”

BcJ added, “I’m not a fan of this modification. It gives controller players a significant advantage by precisely knowing when the smokes will dissipate. In my opinion, it will significantly impact various in-game battles.”

The 7.08 patch is presently accessible on Valorant’s Public Beta Environment (PBE), where gamers can examine these changes before they are implemented on the live servers on October 16.
