Microsoft may announce the release date of the upcoming Call of Duty game shortly. Rumour has it that the game will be called “Black Ops Gulf War” and Microsoft intends to reveal it in June 2024. It’s a little different from before the game may include a major single-player element and a unique multiplayer aspect.
They may complete it previous to the Summer Games Fest. This game which is a part of the Black Ops series is known for playing with new ideas. This time the game is set during the Gulf War a historical event.
According to rumours the “traditional” way of revealing involves a special webcast that takes place ahead of Summer Games Fest. This webcast may provide an early look at the game’s single-player campaign, which Raven Software is supposedly creating as an open-world encounter.
Taking inspiration from Modern Warfare 3’s open-world objectives the campaign seems to stray from Call of Duty’s traditional linear story and instead approach an adventure similar to Far Cry. Later Treyarch Games would handle the multiplayer part and make a separate reveal.
Microsoft is likely preparing to announce the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops game possibly to go along with its 2024 Xbox Showcase according to rumours. Reports indicate that a showcase could take place as early as June 2024 along with the Summer Games Festival.
But the story indicates that the release of Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War will take a more conventional way not being a part of the showcase itself. This break from the custom of Call of Duty Warzone live events revealing new titles represents a major change in tactics.
There have been frequent leaks and rumours that appear to confirm the fact of the next Call of Duty game, leaked theory design for Call of Duty Black Ops as early as 2022 suggested that the game would take place in the early 1990s.
There were storyline rumours regarding the Gulf War (1990–1991) which saw American forces commanded by Treyarch Games and Raven Software drive Iraqi forces out of Kuwait.
The next game looks like it’s going to completely change the Call of Duty campaign experience by breaking from the standard format. This fits well with the creative history of the Black Ops series in the military-themed genre.
The backdrop of the Gulf War gives game designers a blank canvas on which to create a game that faithfully combines well-known weapons with current gameplay to capture the vibe of a particular era.
