Knights of the Zodiac, the live-action adaptation of Masami Kurumada’s Saint Seiya manga, has an official website that started streaming a trailer on Wednesday. The clip indicates that the movie will debut in Japan on April 28 under the title Saint Seiya: The Beginning. Saint Seiya: The Beginning is the film’s Japanese name. The live-action film adaptation of the Saint Seiya manga, titled Knights of the Zodiac, premieres on April 28.

In 2023, the movie will premiere overseas. “Pegasus will rise” is the film’s slogan. The live-action franchise is “looking at six movies as a bundle,” according to Yoshi Ikezawa, a producer at Toei Animation, who spoke to the news website Variety. Toei Animation has ‘already started the conversation,’ he continued, about making sequels.

Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Snowpiercer series), Famke Janssen (X-Men, Taken, The Vault), Nick Stahl (Fear the Walking Dead), Diego Tinoco (On My Block), and Mark Dacascos appear in the movie. Madison Iseman (Jumanji sequels, I Know What You Did Last Summer television series), Mackenyu (Pacific Rim: Uprising, Rurou (John Wick: Parebellum, Hawaii Five-O, Crying Freeman, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, Iron Chef America).

Tomasz Baginski, a Polish animator and special effects designer (The Witcher, “Katedra,” a short animated film nominated for an Academy Award), is directing for Toei alongside Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. The coordinator of the stunts and fights is Andy Cheng (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). The most recent screenwriters for the movie are Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane). With the exception of China and the Middle East, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions distributes outside of Japan whereas Toei distributes in that country.

The Hollywood Reporter summarises the plot of the movie as follows:

Mackenyu is playing the franchise’s titular character, Seiya, a street orphan, in what is being billed as an origin narrative. Seiya sets out on a quest to conquer the Pegasus armour of ancient Greece after the mysterious force known as Cosmo awakens within him. He also decides whose side he will take in a supernatural conflict over the fate of Sienna (Iseman), a young girl who fights to manage her heavenly abilities. Seiya is accepted into the Knights organisation, which Alman Kiddo, who plays Bean’s mentor, formed after discovering the goddess’ reincarnation, recruits her. A guy named Tinoco has been recruited to murder the helpless deity.
