It’s clear that Aki’s love for Wataru is unrequited because she continues to express it in ways that she knows will make her appear to detest Wataru. After Wataru’s rejection, Aki was able to move on and find new friends, as seen in the most recent episode.
While she had made friends, she had wanted to invite Wataru as a friend as well, but when Shinomiya showed up out of the blue, she became flustered.
It’s safe to anticipate that Aki’s resentment and jealousy of Wataru will only grow from here on out.
