The early preview screenings will take place in PVR Cinemas outlets in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, and Bangalore. PVR Cinemas has also released a trailer for the Hindi-dubbed version of the film on its social media platforms.
“Suzume” has already seen massive success in Japan, where it sold 1.33 million tickets and earned 1.88 billion yen (about US$13.49 million) in just three days. The film has earned a cumulative total of 14,310,602,380 yen (about US$109 million) in Japan, surpassing the lifetime earnings of Shinkai’s previous film, “Weathering With You” (Tenki no Ko).
“Suzume” tells the story of a young girl named Suzume Iwato, who is tasked with closing the door between the human world and the spirit world. She embarks on a journey with a young man named Sōta Munakata, who helps her on her mission as the “Door-Closing Master.”
