The show began with the protagonist, Kazuma, penning a letter to his parents under the title God’s Blessings On This Bright Future. While contemplating his countless adventures in the magical land he now calls home, Kazuma finds himself unexpectedly encircled by a plethora of women. He is enjoying the spotlight until Konosuba film character Sylvia appears behind him. Out of nowhere, Kazuma snaps out of his dream, and the scene changes to Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness chatting about trinkets they got from the Crimson Demon Village.
Kazuma and the rest of the party go to the Adventurer’s Guild to cash in on their bounty for rescuing the Crimson Demon Village. Aqua suggests that Kazuma join the Axis Order, but in the midst of their playful banter, Kazuma reveals that he would rather become a monk. Reflecting on his previous heartbreaks and career setbacks led Kazuma to this conclusion. Despite Aqua’s best efforts to sway him, Kazuma is unmoved.
While Aqua and Kazuma are still arguing over Kazuma’s job choice, he asks Luna for directions to a neighboring shrine. At the same time, Megumin is thinking back on her time with Kazuma and how sad she is to see him go. But when Kazuma teases her, Megumin turns her reflection into an explosion and blows up a mountain.
Kazuma thinks on his friendship with his travel buddies as the group talks about their goals and previous adventures all night long. On their way to the temple the next morning, they come across a solitary female, who Kazuma recognizes as a Tranquility female—a terrifying plant monster. Ignoring Kazuma’s warnings, the girls’ compassion compels them to spare the monster, who admits she should have been less frightening.
