Recap and Review

At least it’s horrible in a captivating way; after it ends, though, the program performs the biggest joke ever. The protagonist gains OP quickly by absorbing enemy skills in this reincarnation power fantasy isekai, which features status screens and leveling mechanics. The universe is based on spontaneous evolution, and the men get buffer and more monstrous, while the women remain strangely slim and curvy.

We wouldn’t be straying from a great vein of female character writing, however. The opening designs do a good job of showcasing women in a range of clothing styles, from “none” to “full armor,” but beyond the miniskirt killer and Gobmi—who joins the hunting party solely because of Gobrou’s strength, hotness, intelligence, and awesomeness—there are no female characters in the actual episode.

More women: a group of human women, all nak*d and faceless, confined to a dark cave; this is because, once upon a time, the notion that goblins are essentially ravaging rap**ts became a commonplace piece of worldbuilding for a certain subgenre of hack fantasy writer. The subject never comes up again when Gobrou chooses not to dwell on it.

But then again, I have my doubts about how ostentatious Studio DEEN can make the show. I’ve always quietly admired the studio’s longest-tenured artists for their ability to make the most of limited resources; this talent is becoming increasingly valuable as the industry maintains an unsustainable level of output.
