Paper Rex, the dominant power in the VCT Pacific arena this season, won the league and finished in the top three at VCT Masters Tokyo. Furthermore, the team is set to compete for championship gold at the Valorant Champions 2023, with a crucial match versus Evil Geniuses scheduled for the upper bracket final on August 24.

Roster Adjustments

Throughout the current season, Paper Rex has dealt with a number of minor squad changes. In March, the organisation debuted a growing Russian star, Ilya’something’ Petrov, while also choosing to bench the IGL, Benedict ‘Benkai’ Tan, a few months later. During the Masters Tokyo campaign, an unanticipated obstacle came up, forcing Paper Rex to field a replacement. This difficult circumstance arose when the tournament’s premier duelist,’something,’ ran into visa issues, prohibiting him from competing.

Continued Transitions into the 2024 VCT Season

As the 2024 VCT season looms on the horizon, the squad’s composition remains subject to further shifts. In a recent conversation with Round Up Gamers, the team’s head coach confirmed a pivotal change—Wang ‘Jinggg’ Jing Jie will not feature in the roster for the upcoming year.

Vacancy in the Roster for the 2024 Season

Jinggg, hailing from Singapore, is bound by National Service obligations that will lead to his absence throughout the entirety of the 2024 VCT season.

“Jinggg will be departing from PRX after this season’s conclusion and will be sitting out the 2024 season,” alecks disclosed in the interview. “Our aim is to expedite his enlistment, facilitating an earlier return.”

The Valorant Champions 2023 event is poised to be Jinggg’s swan song with Paper Rex. A triumphant victory over Evil Geniuses could propel the team to within a single triumph of capturing the prestigious world championship title.

A Farewell and an Aspiration

“We are steadfast in our aspiration to hoist the trophy alongside him,” alecks expressed with determination.

Jinggg’s association with Paper Rex dates back to 2021, following stints with Team SMG and Reality Rift. The 20-year-old prodigy achieved international prominence during the 2022 season, as Paper Rex secured qualification for every global tournament.

The team’s most notable international accomplishment to date was a remarkable second-place finish at VCT Masters Copenhagen 2022, narrowly falling to FunPlus Phoenix in the climactic finale.
