It’s been a long time since the players have been longing to play the popular shooter Overwatch 2 and try out all the new heroes, maps and gameplay mechanics. But first-time players should expect a completely new experience.

While veteran players will be able to play the game with access to almost everything the game brings right away, Blizzard has confirmed it’s building an environment that will allow new players to settle in quickly.

In a blog post, the company announced some big changes to how first-time players will approach the game and what veterans can expect to see with the game’s Competitive play.

First-time players got some unlocking to do

Overwatch 2 aims to offer a unique first-time user experience to won’t overwhelm newcomers with all the heroes and modes that the game has to offer.

The devs say new users will have access to only a limited set of heroes, modes, and will need to unlock other restrictions. This will be different from new heroes, which will be accessible thanks to a premium Battle Pass.

The first phase of the process will encourage first-time Overwatch 2 players to unlock game modes and the ability to chat in-game. In the second phase, these players will have to unlocking each of the game’s heroes gradually.

The game publisher said that newcomers can unlock all the heroes as they play their way through 100 matches, but there won’t be any restrictions if the player is playing with a group.

That said, Competitive play will still be fully accessible for new and old users alike. However, newcomers will still have play those 100 games before jumping intp Competitive play. What’s more, each player will still be required to complete a very specific goal if they wish to queue up for a ladder match.
