Despite hitting the bumpy road at launch and getting plagued by a variety of bugs, Overwatch 2 seems to have successfully drawn old as well as new players to its futuristic setting. Overwatch 2 developer Blizzard Entertainment doesn’t really reveal the exact number of players battling it out in its games. Still, it occasionally reveals a number to keep the fans thrilled about the game’s success.

As per recent information from Blizzard, over 25 million players have jumped into Overwatch 2 action. The company also sent out a press release to confirm the numbers. There isn’t another way to verify this stat, as Blizzard keeps its player statistics secretive. The game had only launched a few days ago the release was sent out, making this a huge number for such a short span of time.

However, Overwatch 2 still has a long way to go before it can beat the original Overwatch player count. At the BlizzCon opening ceremony in 2019, Jeff Kaplan talked about the Overwatch 2 release, “Nothing’s getting left behind. No one’s getting left behind. We worked so hard to build this community of over 50 million players at this point, the last thing we would ever do is do anything to split what an amazing community you guys are.”

The new game has surely taken off with a bang, but only time will tell whether fans old and new will stick around to play the game or whether this hype will fade away with time. The developers seems to have a lot of content prepared for the future, as per the roadmap released previously. But as of now, it’s unclear how many players are playing the game.
