The episode paints a clear picture of Higan’s background, so now things are beginning to make sense. But it’s not only his past that we get to see; inspector Mike Morris’s background is also up for grabs.

Now we know why Mike is such a dedicated cop: he’s willing to risk everything—including his family—to enter the shadowy world of ninjas. With little to lose, he may be led to believe that assisting another father will bring him the solace he seeks.

The special bond he shares with his partner Emma is equally priceless. Emma clearly respects her boss, despite her pretense that she is only doing it for the money and fame. Together, Mike and his junior are the formidable force that plans to depose the AUZA tech firm, and Mike always listens to what his junior has to say.

Here we learned crucial details regarding the pre-tragedy lives of Higan, Zai, and Mari, as well as how they first became acquainted with each other. From their histories, we can deduce yet another striking difference between Mike Morris and Higan. A strong sense of duty characterizes both individuals, but their varied approaches to previous situations are what set them apart. Unaware of the tragic consequences, Mike Morris prioritized his job before his family. In contrast, Higan prioritizes his family before his duty, even though he is fully aware of the implications.
