Chapter 352 Recap

The flashback began My Hero Academia chapter 352, titled “Ultimate Moves.” Midoriya had expressed concern to Shoto about having to fight his brother. Shoto responded that this was his choice because Dabi was the responsibility of the Todoroki family. He saw Endeavor’s inability to fight Dabi as a punishment. Shoto demonstrated his “Flashfire Fist: Phosphor,” in which he tempered the two extreme sides of his body to create a fire that did not burn but instead neutralised flames. He realised he was going in the opposite direction of what his father had wanted for him, but he finally recognised that this was his own power and thanked Midoriya.

In the present, Shoto used “Icebound Crash: Coldflame’s Pale Blade,” a cold flame, to calm down Dabi. Dabi, on the other hand, neutralised the attack by using the ground to spread his flames across a large area. Burnin and the other sidekicks used their bodies to shield Shoto as he charged his attack. Shoto profusely thanked them. Dabi stated that, while he and Shoto had similar beginnings, he had strayed from his younger brother’s righteous path and, as a result, they could no longer walk the same path. Despite his concerns about being left behind, Shoto remembered that Class A had always waited for him, making him feel safe. Shoto unleashed his ultimate move, “Great Glacial Aegir,” recalling Mount Lady’s words.

He promised Dabi that if Dabi stopped what he was doing, they could continue on the same path. Shoto and Dabi were shown as children crying and looking at each other in an inner projection. Dabi had collapsed on top of Shoto, it was revealed. The two brothers stood motionless in a frozen landscape as far as the eye could see.

The state of the two brothers is the most pressing question that My Hero Academia chapter 353 must address. It is unknown whether Shoto has frozen himself, Dabi, or the landscape. A popular fan theory suggests that Endeavor would have to come to his sons’ aid if this were to happen. Many fans have expressed disappointment that one of the series’ most anticipated battles was over in about four chapters. However, given the time limit Horikoshi has set for himself and Dabi’s physical condition, extending this fight beyond My Hero Academia chapter 353 does not seem logical. Horikoshi, of course, is an expert at throwing curveballs and can shift his attention to other ongoing battles at this critical juncture.

The community has long debated whether Dabi can be saved, and an even more pressing question is whether Dabi wants to be saved at all. So far, there are signs that Dabi may not be as opposed to being saved as previously thought, as long as it is not Enji who saves him. However, his physical condition raises the question of how much of Dabi remains to be saved after this battle.

My Hero Academia chapter 353 will most likely show the aftermath of this fight, but Dabi could retaliate and emerge victorious. If Shoto loses here, Endeavor will have to defeat his eldest son. However, Shoto will almost certainly win, and fans can only hope that both brothers will emerge from this battle alive, if not standing.
