The Overwatch 2 developers are thinking of bringing back Orisa’s Halt ability in some way. The Overwatch 2 development team has uniformly voiced an affection for the ability and is ready to experiment with its restoration in the future, even though it may not necessarily be restored directly to Orisa herself.

Many characters were significantly changed when Overwatch 2 was released in comparison to their Overwatch 1 predecessors. Significant changes were made to heroes like Doomfist and Bastion, and Orisa, in particular, had almost all of her abilities completely redesigned. One of these adjustments was the elimination of Halt!, her former alternative fire ability that drew adversaries towards its centre and slowed them down when it exploded.

Overwatch 2 Classic Abilities Orisa Halt Ability Coming back

Alec Dawson, the lead hero designer, has expressed a strong desire to perhaps restore the ability that was taken away from Orisa during her Overwatch 2 redesign. Dawson, along with other developers, conversed with content creators from all across the world at the Overwatch 2 Creator Summit about the future of the game.

The team’s appreciation for Halt! and their intention to investigate its reintroduction were conveyed by Dawson in a chat with mL7support. “Two-stage abilities pose considerable challenges,” said he. “We felt that [Halt!] actually managed them quite effectively!” Players can expect its resurgence in the future even though there are currently no plans for its reintroduction in Overwatch 2.

During the time it was a weapon in Orisa’s armoury, Halt! gained considerable popularity. Fans, many of whom express nostalgia for the previous iteration of Orisa, have largely responded positively to Dawson’s comments. Fans would be happy to see Halt! make a comeback to the game in some form, even though it might not be added back into Orisa’s outfit considering that her Overwatch 2 redesign focused on enhancing her role as a frontline hero.

Players hope that additional old Overwatch 2 abilities, such as Orisa’s Halt!, may be brought back. Notable skills include Symmetra’s Photon Barrier and Photon Shield, Doomfist’s Rising Uppercut from his DPS days, and many others. Contested skills like Cassidy’s Flashbang are also something that some fans like to see resurface. Yet, fans shouldn’t hold their breath for the contentious stun grenade that Cassidy is bringing back, even in the event that a revision is considered.

In the upcoming patch on February 21 players can expect to see changes for D.Va, Roadhog, Zarya, Tracer, Hanzo, Lucio and Mercy in addition to buffs for Junkrat and Illari and nerfs for Zenyatta. Future patches will also likely include changes for Widowmaker.

Although some numerical changes are scheduled for improvement, developers are generally satisfied with the controversial changes made to Overwatch 2’s health and projectile systems. Fans should keep an eye out for further information as the Overwatch 2 Creator Summit progresses.
