Sohail “Hector” Shaikh, a competitive Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) player for Team SouL, recently discussed his lack of commitment to playing New State Mobile alongside the team’s New State Mobile roster. Hector clarified that he was only taking part in New State Mobile for a brief period of time before BGMI resurfaced. He also stressed the value of considering the long-term effects of choices, warning that his decision to leave a team might have negative effects on him and his colleagues in the future. Hector previously disclosed that he was assembling a New State Mobile squad with Akshat “AkshaT” Goel, Deepak “SENSEI” Negi, and Harshit “MJ” Mahajan. Hector had previously joined TeamXSpark of Tanmay “Scout” Singh to play New State Mobile. Hector did not think about joining S8UL Esports’ New State Mobile squad despite being a member of S8UL Esports.
A spectator of a recent livestream questioned Hector about why he does not participate in the New State Mobile lineup for S8UL Esports. In response, he admitted that it was a valid concern but stated that he was only participating for a brief period of time, i.e., until BGMI returned. He emphasised that even if he were to quit the team after winning awards, it would be problematic for both him and his teammates.
The problem is that I only have a short period to play New State Mobile here. Even if I win two trophies during that brief period of time before leaving the squad, we will fall behind. Both their (my teammates’) and my jobs will suffer as a result. They’ll all lag, those three participants. The three players will need to look for a new IGL because if they don’t, they’ll keep lagging and the crowd will keep disliking them, he said.

Additionally, Hector counselled his audience to think about the long-term advantages of their choices rather than just the immediate ones. “For this reason, whenever you think about something, consider the long run; consider what the benefits of it will be in the future. If I had won the BMPS, for instance, I might have quit the team and joined another one.
Everyone is aware of Hector’s contribution to the team’s BMPS trophy victory, but no one would have stood by me had I remained on the squad. They would back the teams Hector played for (BMPS) and triumphed,” he said. Hector and Team SouL won the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS), and Hector went on to compete with the group in a number of other competitions, such as the BGMI master’s Series and the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022.
