Rockstar recently witnessed what was probably the worst leak in the history of gaming. The massive leak spilled the beans about its highly-anticipated game — GTA 6. The leak thrust out largely unfinished elements of the game, giving fans a glimpse of what’s in store for them with the next entry in the franchise.

The fiasco left the game publisher in a legal war with a 17-year-old hacker, who leaked in-game development footage of the game for the world to see. Basically, the most important details about the game are out with the leak.

However, that hasn’t stopped the game developer from being optimistic. But still, Rockstar wasn’t prepared for the stock dropping after the incident. The company went all out to control the damage, trimming down the risk of any more changes to their stock’s price.

Take-Two is confident and optimistic

“At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects,” Rockstar said.

Rockstar’s parent firm, Take-Two was in full support of the GTA devs at its second-quarter earnings call, with CEO Strauss Zelnick being very optimistic even after the massive leak.

“With regards to the leak, it was terribly unfortunate, and we take those sorts of incidents very seriously indeed,” Zelnick said. “There’s no evidence any material assets were taken, which is a good thing, and certainly the leak won’t have any influence on development or anything of the sort, but it is terribly disappointing and causes us to be ever more vigilant on matters relating to cybersecurity.”

The leaks have confirmed that the franchise will be returning to Vice City, with two protagonists. One of them will be a female character, a first for the franchise.

GTA 6 platforms

It goes without saying that GTA 6 will be a next-gen game and will only be available on the PS5, Xbox One X, and later for PC and streaming platforms. GTA fans scrolling through Rockstar’s LinkedIn profiles managed to unearth some interesting information thanks to a Rockstar Games employee profile.

If the rumors are to be believed, GTA 6 will take the center stage sometime in 2025. Whenever the game comes out, it will definitely take over the whole gaming scene.
