Genshin Impact: All you need to know about Aloy

Aloy in Genshin Impact may appear to be a minor character, but when used correctly, she is a fierce warrior. If you have Aloy in Genshin Impact but aren’t sure if she’s worth your time and resources, the answer is unequivocally yes. You must consider her special abilities more than most other Genshin Impact characters, owing in part to Aloy’s lack of Constellations (yet).

Whereas others excel at Elemental Skills and Bursts, Aloy excels at normal attacks thanks to some unique passive talents and a passive buff her Skill grants at regular intervals. Appearances can be deceiving with this one, but don’t be fooled by her low stats. Aloy lives up to her five-star rating when used correctly.

Experiment With Weapons

You might think Aloy is only for PlayStation, with the Strong Strike skill for her bow Predator only available on PSN, but you’d be wrong. Predator’s Strong Strike skill may boost Aloy’s attack, but the conditions are unsuitable for her cooldown time, and the buff to normal attack damage is minor.

The Inazuma bow is your best bet, Hamayumi. Not only is it craftable, making maxing out its passive skill more feasible, but its secondary stat and passive skill both grant a higher boost to normal attack. If you’re primarily using Aloy to deal damage with regular attacks, you can keep her energy fully charged to double the attack buffs.

Make Aloy Your DPS Lead

Aloy’s base attack stat of 18 may appear low for a five-star character, but her passive abilities and Coil stacks put her on par with the best. Aloy, unlike other low-attack characters, should be a primary DPS. Gaining four Coil stacks – obtained when her Elemental Skill’s bomblets make contact with enemies – boosts her normal attack.

Combat Override passive talent boosts it by another 16%, and Strong Strike can increase her Cryo damage by up to 35%. Gaining four Coils converts normal damage into Cryo damage, resulting in an attack buff of approximately 50% without even considering weapon bonuses.

Use Her Skill To Gain Coils

Aloy’s Elemental Skill has a long cooldown timer, and her Burst is effective but simple. You’ll want to rely on normal attacks, including Cryo damage, for the majority of your damage. Using Aloy against enemy mobs is the best way to get the Coil attack buff.

You can entice them to collide with the bomblets, granting one Coil stack, and it’s easier to get four Coil stacks with multiple enemies. Getting the Cryo override and its attack buff takes longer against bosses that don’t move much, but explosions reduce the target’s attack, so keep that in mind when assembling your team.

Burst Isn’t Everything

Noblesse Oblige is a popular Aloy build, but it overlooks the far more significant benefits of basing Aloy on either normal damage, Cryo damage, or both. Gladiator’s Finale and Blizzard Strayer work well together to maximise potential in both areas.

If Cryo damage isn’t important to you, you might want to look into the full Martial Artist set. The two-piece effect boosts attack by 15%, while the four-piece effect boosts attack by 25% after using an Elemental Skill.

Work Together

Aloy may have been a lone wolf in Horizon: Zero Dawn, but the Nora warrior’s abilities make her uniquely suited for teamwork in Genshin Impact. Aloy’s Skill is ideal for setting up or triggering Elemental reactions due to the number of bomblets and their delayed explosion time. If you need to switch elements or characters, do so after gaining four Coil stacks, as this increases the party’s attack by 8%.

Using a character with a long-lasting Elemental ability, such as Xiangling’s Pyronado, Xingqiu’s Rain Swords, or even Raiden Shogun’s Baleful Eye, is the best strategy. When combined with Aloy’s standard Cryo attacks, this is an excellent setup for continuous Elemental Reactions that deal heavy damage.
