A major update to the treasure compass device may be on the way, instead of displaying light trails it may instead display a mark on the map, which could make it simpler to locate chests.

The Treasure Compasses in the game are going to have changes according to a new leak that leaked by Team Mew on the Genshin Impact leaks subreddit. The leak claims that HoYoverse plans to do away with the Treasure Compass’s light trails which were formerly used to point players in the direction of chests.
Instead the next update will add a marker indicating the location of the chest on the in-game minimap. Also it is said that the update would specify if a chest is underwater or underground.
