In Chapter 67 of Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman, our beloved Jirou and Akari, who are married but still not quite, get into a communication crisis. Misunderstandings and anxieties nearly led to the destruction of their ship just as things were becoming steamy (or at least, as steamy as they get when you’re married but not formally dating).
Do not be afraid, beloved readers, for Sachi, the embodiment of honesty and everyone’s favorite sidekick, is here to provide a much-needed dose of reality. Sachi brilliantly interrupts the emotional haze to reveal that both Akari and Jirou are acting ridiculously, and the audience should applaud him for it. Holy cow! They’re head over heels for each other! Why postpone their happiness for an unspecified deadline?
Months of longing and unspoken emotions aren’t enough to satisfy Sachi’s straightforward honesty. A surprising twist leads Akari and Jirou to finally confess their love to each other, resulting in confetti and fireworks. After the “marriage practical” and forthcoming exams, they decide to postpone taking the formal dating lab. Unfortunately, it’s not the perfect happily-ever-after we were hoping for, but at least it’s a compromise.
To rescue the day (and our sanity), Sachi swoops in like a glorious knight. Sachi shows up with some much-needed honesty and a strategy that could be the solution to Jirou and Akari’s blossoming romance, right as their charming awkwardness is about to ruin it.
Thus, Chapter 67 was an essential step in the correct direction, even though it was not the explosive passionate climax we had hoped for. This chapter is a winner in our book because of Sachi’s involvement, the long-awaited love confessions, and the promise of a future together. Until their exams are over, I hope Akari and Jirou can refrain from physical intimacy… still no guarantees.
