Chapter 88 of Finding Camellia picked up just where Chapter 87 left off, with Claude’s miraculous appearance. The panels he was in made him appear to be a heroic rescuer who had descended to save Camelia. Not only did he soothe her, but he also helped her get out of a mental rut.
But first, he had her close her eyes as he led her to the carriage. He didn’t want her to see the bloodshed that had taken place along the road. Since she had a lot on her mind already, it was a smart move on his part.
Camelia realizes afterward that her stepmother must have come up with the plan she is being asked to participate in. It’s too late for her to call the older woman her mother, though, and she no longer treats her that way. Claude then swears when he learns the complexity of the situation but pledges to take care of everything.
In Chapter 89 of Finding Camellia, Pipi is taken into custody for a crime just before Camelia returns. No hints about the nature of this crime had been made previously, but the events in the most recent chapter suggest that the stepmother may be responsible.
When stories require villains, it is refreshing to see the wicked stepmothers take center stage. We’re getting off-topic though. Camelia’s key decision today is whether or not to stand by her mother as she suffers at the hands of her abusive stepmother.
The stepmother’s treatment of Camelia has reached absurd levels, and she must now meet an inevitable conclusion. And Claude has made it his mission to rescue Camellia from her predicament by fixing all the issues that have arisen.
