Bandai Namco is hosting a free fan event at the L.A. Convention Center from February 23rd to 26th, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Digimon’s legacy. The event showcases the franchise’s evolution from its early beginnings as a virtual pet toy to its current state. The exhibition features over 140 pieces of artwork, divided into four sections: The Birth and Rise of Digimon, The World of Digimon, the 25th Anniversary Commemoration Corner, and the new Digimon Seekers project. Fans can also enjoy a demo of the Digimon World: Next Order game, a limited section dedicated to the anime series, a merchandise booth, and the Digimon Card Game 2022 Final Championship. The Digimon Museum section displays artworks from a similar event that took place in Akihabara, Japan, in July 2022. The commemorative event guidebook provided by the fan meetup is the translated version of that event. It serves as an encyclopaedia of Digimon media, highlighting important Digimon featured in the anime series. Attendees will also receive a free pack of trading cards featuring the winners of the 2021 Digimon Illustration Competition.

Some TCG community members had even planned their trip since October 2022. Watanabe shared his desire to grab some Shohei Ohtani merchandise while in town, adding excitement to the already enthusiastic crowd.

Despite the lack of new announcements or artwork from the anime catalogue, a section in the event’s guidebook revealed the English dub of the Digimon Adventure 2020 reboot series will premiere in spring 2023. Fans were thrilled to learn of the upcoming release and can look forward to its debut. The event also featured the new Digimon Seekers project, with its material and key visuals on display. Attendees can view the new Vital Bracelet BE band set, which was recently revealed at Digicon 2023, but is not for sale.

English Dub Premiere of Digimon Adventure Anime in spring 2023

On February 26th, the Digimon Fan Meetup event in Los Angeles made an exciting announcement regarding the Digimon Adventure: anime. The English dub for the anime is set to premiere this spring, with Zeno Robinson voicing Taichi and Ben Diskin voicing Agumon.

Digimon Adventure: is an all-new story that takes place in 2020, centring on Taichi Yagami, who is in his fifth year of elementary school. His partner is Agumon, and the story begins in Tokyo when a large-scale network malfunction occurs. Taichi’s mother and younger sister get stuck on a train that won’t stop moving, and he heads to Shibuya to help them. However, on his way there, he encounters a strange phenomenon that sweeps him up into the Digital World along with other Digi Destined.

The anime premiered in Japan in April 2020 and aired for 67 episodes, with Crunchyroll streaming the anime as it aired in Japan. The series was directed by Masato Mitsuka, a Digimon Fusion episode director, and Atsuhiro Tomioka, known for supervising the scripts for Inazuma Eleven, Pokémon, One Piece, and Beyblade Burst, supervised the series scripts. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who previously worked on Digimon Adventure, designed the characters, while Akihiro Asanuma, who worked on Digimon: Data Squad, was the chief animation director. Ryouka Kinoshita, who worked on the Little Witch Academia series and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, served as the art director, and Toshiki Amada, who worked on Fire Force and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, was in charge of the art setting. The producers for the series were Hanae Matsuki, Naoko Sagawa, and Hiroyuki Sakurada.

While there were no new announcements or artwork from the series at the event, attendees were able to view the new Vital Bracelet BE band set from the franchise’s newest project, Digimon Seekers. The exhibition celebrated Digimon’s 25-year legacy and provided fans with an update on the franchise’s present-day status.
