Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone will get Gundam-themed skins, weapon blueprints and accessories as part of an exciting crossover between Call of Duty and Mobile Suit Gundam according to a statement released by Bandai Namco. Gundam fans and fans of the Japan-themed map in the teaser trailer are happy and counting down the days until Season 4 launches on May 29, 2024. This special partnership aims to combine the legendary Gundam designs with the action of Call of Duty.

What to Expect from the Crossover and New Features

The Call of Duty and Gundam crossover has a lot of exciting and innovative possibilities even though the specifics are still being worked out. The Dune live-action films, Warhammer 40K, pop culture icons like Cheech and Chong and even a dinosaur operator as part of long-running in-jokes are just a few of the many trademarks that Bandai Namco and Microsoft have included in Call of Duty in the past.

Expected Features and Additions

Many Gundam-themed features are expected to be added to Call of Duty as part of the crossover improving the gameplay experience with:

  • Gundam-Themed Skins: Gamers may expect plenty of character skins influenced by different Gundam series enabling them to use their preferred mecha designs on the battlefield.
  • Weapon Blueprints: There will probably be new weapon blueprints in the crossover that combine Gundam features and aesthetics giving players a whole new armoury to experiment with.
  • Themed Accessories: Another level of customisation will likely be added by additional in-game items like charms and decals which will likely mirror the Gundam universe.

Community Reaction and Speculation

There has been a great deal of excitement in the Call of Duty and Gundam communities since the announcement. The accurate Gundam models that will be included and any new gameplay elements that might be added are the topics of fan discussion.

The anime industry has been greatly impacted by this important series especially in the mecha genre which is centred around enormous robots and complex gear. G Gundam, Gundam Wing and Gundam SEED are only a few of the many spin-offs, sequels and subseries that Gundam has grown into over the years. Another game attempt by Bandai Namco was Gundam Evolution a multiplayer shooter with a Gundam theme that was eventually stopped.
