Recap and Review

If you liked Episode 1, you’ll love this one even more. It’s good to hear that Zagan has made removing Nephy’s collar a priority, but it seems like it might take some time because whoever put it on Nephy probably put boobytraps in it.

Manuela has my heart already. Her prominent role in the OP makes her frequent appearances inevitable. Regrettably, we were not privy to the sight of Nephy’s pink underp**ts. The scene where Nephy fed Zagan and Zagan did the same was adorable. Despite his social awkwardness, Zagan has a surprising amount of sweetness. What a hero! The redhead Zagan rescued last week has now offered to eliminate Zagan herself. Zagan rescued Chastille, and now she wants to know more about him so she can cleanse his record.

Thoughts

It seems like the author made some effort with the slavery theme, which is why I’m not ready to write this show off just yet. He never bought her out of pragmatism; he’s simply that good of a guy. Therefore, he has no desire to liberate her. They gave him human-like motivations, like wanting to acquire a slave and then release her, so that he might be a compelling figure. The usage seems more involved than in shows like Shield Hero or that Labyrinth one from a couple of seasons ago. At least after this episode I will have a better idea of what the show is about and not simply another fluffy romance with a bizarre angle.
