At the end of each season, the organisers of the English Premier League (EPL) honor the best manager of the season with their prestigious Manager of the Month award. Sometimes, the choice is pretty obvious as the one who wins the league title bags the award but there are also a number of instances where someone who does an exceptional job with a ‘smaller’ club gets the crown. There have been a number of managers who have risen to the occasion in the 2021-22 season so far and as we reach the its mid-point, here is a look at some of most impressive ones.

Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)

There is absolutely no question that the legendary Spanish manager has weaved his magic with the Cityzens yet again this season. The men in blue are a whopping nine points clear at the top of the table and it does not seem like anything will stop them. The Spaniard’s signature style of playing attacking football, strung together by a large number of slick passing moves has certainly worked his team’s way as they look to win their eighth league title. The way things are going, it certainly looks like a simple task for City.

David Moyes (West Ham United)

When Moyes was fired from the top job at Manchester United way back in 2014, many felt that the Scot’s career as a manager was in its twilight years. However, if anyone knows how to make a comeback, it is this man. Moyes managerial prowess worked its magic at West Ham and for the second season running, the London-based club has exceeded expectations. The Hammers currently sit in the coveted fourth place on the table and will look to hang on to it for a chance in the UEFA Champions League.

Graham Potter (Brighton and Hove Albion)

Potter was regarded as one of the finest managers in the division since the 2020-21 one. Although he did not manage a big club, the wily tactician’s plans usually worked well. This season, the Seagulls have performed brilliantly as they unexpectedly find themselves in the top half of the table in ninth place. A top 10 finish would certainly mean a great deal to the Amex faithful and Graham Potter’s resourcefulness and skill has to be given a lot of credit for that.

Thomas Frank (Brentford)

For a side that has only recently been promoted to the Premier League, Brentford have done an absolutely stunning job so far. Their opening day victory against the mighty Arsenal is an indication that they are here to stay and manager Thomas Frank is the man to accredit that with. Frank exudes a type of fearless football, something that newly promoted clubs do not usually do. Instead of sitting back and inviting pressure, Brentford have been an attacking side, reminiscent of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United from last season. It is almost certain that the Bees will stay up in the PL next season but Frank will be hoping that he could make his club finish as high up the table as possible.
