The talk around Manchester United on transfer deadline day was seemingly more about outgoing players and not incomings. Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, Phil Jones and Dean Henderson were the few players who have been talked about in relation to Old Trafford exits in recent days. However, the January transfer window for Manchester United set up eight outgoing loan deals, with a permanent departure.

The first move to take place was Teden Mengi’s loan move to Birmingham City for the rest of the season. The young defender has made a promising start to life at St Andrew’s and he will be joined by fellow club mate Tahith Chong.

Axel Tuanzebe was next to secure a loan move after his loan ended at Aston Villa to facilitate a similar deal with Serie A side Napoli. The centre-back has already gained some valuable experience in Italy.

Anthony Martial secured a loan move to Seville in the Spanish La Liga for the remainder of the campaign. The French international will look to help fire Sevilla to success, with the team currently in second spot in La Liga, four points adrift of leaders Real Madrid.

United sent Amad to the Scottish top-flight after agreeing to a temporary move to Rangers. The lively winger made an instant impact in Glasgow, scoring within five minutes of his debut against Ross County, and is currently preparing for the Old Firm derby with Celtic on Wednesday.

On deadline day, Donny van de Beek completed his move to Everton for the rest of the season. The Netherlands midfielder links up with new Toffees boss Frank Lampard and will look to gain regular first-team football on Merseyside.

Another defender, Ethan Laird, cut short his stay with Swansea City to switch Championship clubs by heading to promotion-chasing Bournemouth.

With five days remaining of the window, Reece Devine traded St Johnstone for Walsall as another player changing loan clubs.

With deadline approaching, Matej Kovar’s loan to Burton Albion had been processed in time. The young keeper signed a new contract with the Reds before sealing a second stint away, following an earlier spell with Swindon Town.

Finally, Dillon Hoogewerf completed a permanent transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday morning.
