The second of three One-Day International (ODI) matches between Zimbabwe and Ireland will begin at 12:45 PM IST Live on Saturday (January 21). The series kicks off with a game at Harare Sports Club in Harare. The hosts won the first encounter of the three-match ODI series by three wickets on Wednesday, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. In the series opener at Harare on Wednesday, the hosts overcame Ireland by three wickets using the Duckworth-Lewis technique. Skipper Craig Ervine will be hoping that the club can sustain their bat-and-ball performance in the second encounter on Saturday.

The Irish, on the other hand, will be hoping to learn from their mistakes and improve their bowling performance in this match. Zimbabwe will rely on the likes of Madhevere, Ervine, Ballance, all-rounder Raza, and Burl to supply the majority of the runs in the batting department. Skipper Balbirnie (121) and Harry Tector (101) batted brilliantly in the opening match, each scoring a century. Ireland had a healthy total of 288 runs after 50 overs thanks to their innings and were cruising to win. Their bowlers held Zimbabwe under pressure for the entire of game, but Ryan Burl batted well (59 off 41 deliveries) to upset the game’s outcome.

Players to watch out

Harry Tector, the middle-order hitter, was outstanding in the first ODI. He batted aggressively, which can help Ireland gain momentum in the middle overs. He scored a century in the previous encounter and hopes to do so again in the next. In the opening match, Mark Adair, 26, took two key wickets. He was also economical, and if he can maintain this level of performance, Zimbabwe will be put under pressure early on.
